All LRI specialised legal opinions on the climate negotiations are made accessible through this database.
The LRI database of legal opinions is a one of a kind instrument for negotiators, advisers, researchers and anyone interested in the on-going climate negotiations under the UNFCCC. It offers technical analysis on many issues in connection with negotiations such as adaptation and financing, REDD+, the legal form of the 2015 agreement, rules of procedure and interpretation of COP decisions, and much more.
Once in the system, you can search legal opinions by “Subject” or “Scope”. Just click on your preference and scroll down to find all the opinions that match your search.
For the purpose of the database all responses have been completely anonymised. Recommendations, opinions and conclusions offered therein reflect a legal expert’s assessment and cannot be attributed to LRI. The database does not replace the LRI legal assistance service but may provide some general guidance on and introduction to legal issues.
All reasonable efforts have been made to ensure the accuracy of the information at the time the advice was produced. However, the materials have been prepared for informational purposes only and may have been superseded by more recent developments. They do not constitute formal legal advice or create a lawyer-client relationship. To the extent permitted any liability is excluded.
Use of the database is free of charge but we ask that all users register using a valid email address.
