Legislating the Paris Agreement – Summary Report of meeting – September 2016

Briefing paper

Date produced: 18/10/2016

The Paris Agreement has now been ratified by a sufficient number of parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) representing over 55 per cent of global greenhouse gas emissions and, as a result, it will enter into force on 4 November 2016. In collaboration with the Climate & Development Knowledge Network (CDKN), LRI hosted a two-day event in London to develop approaches and ideas for supporting developing countries in their legislative efforts to respond to climate change and implement their commitments under the Paris Agreement. The event combined an evening panel discussion with a hands-on legal expert workshop the following day.
